Summary of Field Work: |
In 2019, we propose to deploy 2 OBS with optical modem in the vicinity of the OOI Pioneer Array. The OBS will be recovered in 2020. During both cruises, we will test data transfer, via an optical modem, between 2 OBS and a REMUS AUV. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
For both cruises, we need ship-mounted 12 kHz transducers and a CTD/ rosette. We need sufficient deck space for 2 OBS, a REMUS-600 AUV, and a 20' lab. van. For both cruises we need a crane/A-frame to handle the REMUS AUV and the 2 OBS. |

Description of Repeating cruise requirements: |
Not a repeating cruise. |
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
Need at least an intermediate ship with adequate deck space for REMUS AUV and 2 OBS. Ideally, this experiment would piggyback on OOI cruise to Pioneer Array |
